The City of Woodridge, IL
Overlooking the DuPage River in several different locations, Woodridge IL is a near eastern suburb which partially extends into Cook County. With a population of just over 32,000, the community is known for its scenic parks, excellent school districts, and small-town atmosphere. Incorporated in 1959, the village soon became a destination for Chicago families moving away from the crowded confines of the city limits. A comprehensive revitalization plan in 1985 was set down for Woodridge IL‘s future growth, and has had tremendous success to date.
When Wilton Industries, Woodridge IL‘s first corporation, relocated to the community, it quickly became the largest local employer. Spurring on renewed interest in the area, additional land was purchased by the village, just south of of I-55 by Joliet and Lemont Road. The Internationale Centre, a popular commercial sector, now dominates the area. Even with Woodridge IL‘s dedication to big business, there’s still plenty of quaint parks and tree-lined streets for a relaxing summer strolls with friends.
